While most of the family eat meat, hubby is vegetarian so instead of always cooking a ‘normal’ meal with meat on one lot of plates and meat substitue on the other, I like also to cook vege meals that we’ll all like.

We do get really busy, so seeing vege meals that can be done in a short time enticed me to buy the book. Having tried some, I’m not sure they all take 15 mins or less, but it’s not much over when they do. I’m guessing a cookbook writer is speedier than me at getting things done :-)

There are some favourites of mine (some with a twist – whoever would have thought of adding beans to a fondue mix!) and some new ideas – that’s the joy of buying a book from the States when I’m in the UK.

I tried out six of these before leaving a review and I was really happy with the way they turned out – hubby and family were too. They even ate the sprouts in the Brussel Sprouts and Candied Tofu, and usually I’m the only one to touch them.

Even better, we have most of the ingredients anyway – there’s no hunting around in obscure shops looking for them. I don’t mind that in itself, but when one is in a hurry it’s good to use what’s at hand and this book helps me do that.

I never thought of making a black bean burger! It came out great and I’m looking forward to trying other interesting recipes next week. I just wish all the recipes had pictures, but overall it looks like a very good book.

I am not a vegetarian and haven’t a clue how to make a meal without starting with a piece of meat. I downloaded this little recipe book to give meatless a try and I think there are some here that are quite good. This may not take meat off the menu completely but at least it is a start.
