The only thing that saddens me about this video is that I’ll have to wait until next summer to make this myself with my own, home grown, produce.

Great recipe and technique, but your knife skills are unsafe and bad. Chop with your fingers curled like a claw.

While you were suggesting making soup with the tomato juice, I was thinking in my head, “I would just drink that,” and as I finished the thought you said it out loud.

Thanks for sharing this is a great, simple recipe. I am going to make it tonight but I will replace the cilantro with some of the fresh young mint that is growing in my garden without me ever asking it to. I might add a bit of paprika and cumin as well.

I love this recipe Raymond. You’re right. Roma toms are to dry for me. I like red onions if they are available. Thanks for all your hard work.

I have a recipe book on salsas. But sometimes just a basic salsa is great! Which reminds me I haven’t eaten salsa in awhile. Yumoooo!!! =D

  22. YourProduceGuy says:

The chip in the photo for this dish was made fresh as well. I haven’t really talked about that at all. Fresh whole grain corn tortilla quick fried in a small amount of oil and then salted and ready to dip into the fresh pico. Fresh really is Best!

have to try , tomatoes and chips. seem healthy meal :-)

  24. rousp1 says:

You can add a little of the salt to the tomatoes when draining them. I find that adding the salt drains them faster, and better.
I use it for making tomato sauces, no idea how it would do in a salsa though. And it might be molesting your garden tomatoes, I only have shop bought tomatoes.. Sadly..

@MrTempUzer I am not a vegetarian. I have worked with vegetables, grown vegetables and love to eat vegetables. But I do eat from all of the food groups as well.
